Before I started training in BJJ, I went to a regular gym. I found that I was constantly finding excuses not to go, because I was getting so bored with the repetitive work outs. Since I’ve always been an avid fan of Mixed Martial Arts, and heard that BJJ was a great work out, I decided to stop by Fairfax JJ to check it out.
After my first class, I was hooked. From the instructors to the students, the school is top notch! All the students are really friendly, and always willing to give advice to help enhance techniques. To top it off, we all motivate each other so we are finding ways to improve.
The instructors conduct great classes that teach excellent BJJ techniques and fundamental skills, as well as get all the students in great physical shape, especially by increasing cardio levels. They are always hands-on, and genuinely friendly, so students never feel intimidated to ask them questions.
I travel regularly for my job, and while I’m out of town I try to stop by local BJJ schools to check them out, test my skills and stay in shape. I learned very quickly that those other schools are simply schools; students and teachers come in, train, and then go home. At Fairfax JJ, there seems to be a lot more camaraderie- students come in early before class and stay afterward to talk about what they learned and help each other with techniques.
Since I’ve been training at Fairfax JJ, every class I learn something new. I always walk out of class feeling that I got a great workout, as well as received some great BJJ lessons. I can’t imagine training anywhere else!
