Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling martial art widely regarded as the single most effective form of self-defense. It incorporates takedowns, escapes, reversals, and submissions like chokes and armlocks while emphasizing positional dominance over your opponent.
Our professional instructors recognize that each student is an individual with unique goals, various martial arts backgrounds, and differing levels of fitness. As you begin your training, we will focus on a curriculum of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fundamentals, called Elements, essential to building a solid foundation upon which to grow. These techniques cover all aspects and positions of Jiu Jitsu such as takedowns, reversals and sweeps, transitions, and submissions. Classes include solo and partner drills, technical instruction, Q&A, and situational drills with resistance. Since Jiu Jitsu is not something that can be learned in a vacuum and must be felt to be understood and mastered, beginning FJJ students utilize open mat time which allows for more student exploration of technique as well as sparring opportunities.
